Orientalist Miniature – Saz Player With Rose – 19th Century
Small miniature on copper, representing a young woman of oriental type. With one hand she brings a rose to her face; with the other, she holds a saz, a lute found in Turkey, Iran, the Caucasus, etc. The young woman has one bare breast. She wears a pearl necklace, a bracelet, rings. She is dressed in a white tunic, as well as a wide belt.
The execution is remarkable, extremely fine and meticulous.
The work is in very good condition, despite very fine cracks, barely visible to the naked eye. It is framed with a wooden stick covered with a golden patina.
