Monstrance Reliquary Of Saint Lucide - 18th Century
Our finely carved, chiseled and gilded wooden monstrance rests on a polylobed terrace with gadroons. It houses in its center a niche with silver volutes in which rests a bagged ex-ossibus relic of Saint Lucidae.
This is probably Saint Lucy of Syracuse, Virgin martyred in Sicily (+ c. 305), victim of the persecutions of Diocletian.
Our Italian reliquary is surrounded by palms of the Martyr and is topped with a royal crown. Two parish seals authenticate the relic. Good condition, some losses and fleur-de-lis shaped finial of the upper end glued back.
Dimensions of 73 cm high by 37 cm wide and 11 cm deep
