Louis XV Two-body Buffet Forming A Display Case In Carved Walnut, 18th Century, South West
Superb Louis XV style two-part buffet in richly carved solid walnut. Lower part buffet opening onto two doors and two drawers. Upper part with serving pass-through slide opening onto two glass doors forming a display case. On snail feet and carved sides in reserve, the lower part is supported by a scalloped crosspiece with marquetry inlay of a star in its center. The doors are deeply carved with typical Louis XV motifs. The drawers carved with asparagus tips. Upper part in gendarme's hat, with scalloped doors and carved and marquetry pediment, the sides in reserve carved. Furniture in very good house condition, the interior has been lined with a very beautiful quilted fabric. Some restorations of use, walnut wood very slightly pitted in places but totally acceptable on an old piece of furniture. Period late 18th, early 19th century. Delivery only on estimate, contact me.
