Pair Of Empire Period Mahogany Chairs, Stamped Jacob Desmalter Circa 1810
- Pair of chairs, in mahogany and varnished mahogany veneer, made around 1810 in the workshop of Jacob Desmalter.
- Empire period chairs with the following stylistic characteristics: front legs turned into a double pear shape (the lower one being more stretched) and ringed (the ring adorning the two bulges) ending with "spinning top" sabots, sabre-shaped back legs, a plain quadrangular belt without dice, a clear backrest with straight uprights, a thick seat. - The seat and backrest are covered in an "old bronze" colored velvet with a bronze-colored gilded nail finish. This choice offers an elegant contrast with the shade of the mahogany while respecting a range of "warm" colors. -
Each chair is stamped "JACOB.DRMESLEE" for "Jacob Desmalter / Rue Meslée" - Very good condition
- Dimensions - Height: 91.5 cm, Width: 50 cm, Depth: 42.5 cm
