Mahogany Armchair With Swans, Empire Period, Circa 1810

- Mahogany bergère, French Empire period, circa 1810.

- This mahogany bergère features two saber-shaped rear legs, while the straight front legs terminate in feline paws. The plain, convex front is surmounted by armrest supports carved with swan figures whose wingtips curl into volutes. The square, molded armrests connect to the back via an ornament of volutes at the ends, resembling a stylized lotus leaf. A square, open back with convex uprights ending in volutes completes the seat.

- Upholstered in a traditional style, the seat has a removable cushion, and the seat, sides, and back are covered in a green velvet embossed with rosettes, a motif that stylistically complements Empire-period woodwork. The upholstery is secured with tacks.
