Stew Spoon, Baldy Family, Circa 1750, Solid Silver, Northern France
Artist: Pif Couronnés
Very interesting solid silver stew spoon, engraved with a very pretty coat of arms from the same period belonging to a member of the Baldy family, originally from Languedoc. (thanks to Mr. Alban Perés and Mr. Evrard van Zuylen) Four hallmarks appear on the back of the spoon, two of which are very legible: a cinquefoil topped with a closed crown and a crowned PIF master goldsmith's hallmark. A third hallmark could be the crowned double-headed eagle as used in Cambrai..... To be dated around 1750. Weight 145 grams.
