Tibetan Bell, 19th Century

The bell, ghanta, is a ritual object of worship used in Lamaist ceremonies in Himalayan Tantric Buddhism. It is one of the main attributes of the lama. The ghanta represents knowledge and emptiness. An inscription can be seen inside the bell that corresponds to the monastery. Old bell made up of the different symbols specific to Himalayan Buddhism. Face of the Prajnaparamita surmounted by the half-dorje with eight branches in the upper part, garland of jewels, eight lotus petals and vertical dorjes decorate the dress. Patina and wear from use.
