Drawing Attributed To Jean-charles Frontier 18th Century

Artist: Jean-charles Frontier (1701-1763)
Attributed to Jean-Charles FRONTIER (1701-1763) "Venus asking Vulcan for weapons for Aeneas" Black chalk and white chalk highlights on buff paper. Laminated on 18th century paper, Annotations on the back: "Lenoir" in black chalk and "4947" in black ink. Louis XVI mount and frame in gilded wood from the 19th century. Dimensions with frame: H.48cm x W.43cm Beautiful composition drawing in its original condition, deserving a simple dusting. The attribution to Frontier is based on the typical treatment of an artist from the South of France, Frontier born in Paris, having then been in Lyon until his death. And also by comparison with the drawings of his very reduced corpus, including especially the drawings kept at the Dusseldorf Museum, published by Pierre Rosenberg in Master Drawings.
