During the Restoration, Parisian master glassmakers and crystal works distinguished themselves through the creation of fanciful objects and trompe-l’œil designs in coloured opaline glass, which were particularly prized for adorning the refreshment tables and drawing rooms of the nobility.

Our pear-shaped box, which is part of the refined production of turquoise opaline from the early 19th century, bears witness to the strong taste of the Charles X era for naturalistic works of art enhanced with delicate gold decoration.
