China, second half of the 19th century, rare and very pretty ceremonial embroidered silk tiger cap intended for young boys to protect them against evil spirits. At the back, a long red-background neck protector is very finely decorated with an embroidered flower and lotus buds. This unusual piece was intended to protect a young boy from a wealthy class. Good condition except for a few snags and wear; nothing abnormal considering its age and frequent use.
