Burma, early 20th century, very pretty and unusual bronze votive altar depicting Buddha seated in padmasana in the position of taking the earth as witness (bhumisparsa mudra). The altar, with a lotus-shaped base, has an openwork finial at the back. The uprights are decorated with animals. There are some traces of polychromy on Buddha and the altar. Beautiful quality craftsmanship. Good condition except for slight normal wear and tear without impact. Total height 31 cm. Height of Buddha alone 14 cm.
