A Mahogany Backgamon Table . Directoire Period
A mahogany and mahogany veneer backgammon table, Directoire period. The playing surface is covered with two leathers, one for playing and the other for correspondence. The interior of the backgammon board reveals a compartment inlaid with ebony, ivory, and green-stained wood. Two side drawers (a unique feature here, as they are not located on the front as is often the case). The tapered legs terminate in gilt bronze sabots. In excellent condition and complete with its candlesticks, this piece has been restored in our workshop. H x W x D = 74 x 107 x 57 cm
