Important Lacquer Box, Checker Board Decor, Hiramaki-e, Nashi-ji, Japan Edo-meiji 19th Century

Very large box, probably for mail, rectangular in shape with rounded corners. The interior has a level with tray. It is entirely decorated in Hiramaki-e lacquer, on the outside with a checkerboard pattern, decorated with stylized medallions, involving birds, insects, plants and scenes of daily life. The interior is decorated with pointillism decoration in Nashi-ji gold lacquer.
Condition: not perfect! Some small lacquer breaks, cracks, chips, and wear of the checkerboard pattern. Please look carefully at my detailed photos, I'm not hiding anything!
Japanese working, dating from the mid-19th century, late Edo period, early Meiji period.
