Émile Gallé's manufactory was renowned for its production of top quality furniture and glassware. However, before starting to create his famous furniture and glass objects, Gallé participated in the design of earthenware, first at the Saint-Clément factory, then at his own. Emile Gallé loved walks in the wild woods and had his own small botanical garden. He hung signs above his studio door: "Our roots are deep in the forest - by the streams and among the moss."
