Hydrangea Vase , Emile Gallé, Art Nouveau, Nancy, Early 20th Century

Vase made of multi-layered glass using the etching technique. The decorative motif consists of hydrangeas  in a beautiful combination of purple and green colors on a light background.

Good condition, a small repair on the spout and below a small crack visible.

Émile Gallé's manufactory was famous for its first-class furniture and glassware. Gallé loved to walk in the wild woods and had his own small botanical garden. He hung signs above his workshop door: "Our roots are deep in the forest - on the banks of streams and among the moss".
