Walter Biddlecombe (1855-1903) The Cowherd In The Aix Countryside

Artist: Walter Biddlecombe (1855-1903)
The serene and relaxing atmosphere of bucolic life in the 19th century for this work by the English artist who lived in Provence Walter Biddlecombe. In excellent condition, the work is presented in a beautiful 19th century gilded frame which measures 74 cm by 90 cm and 50 cm by 65 cm for the canvas alone. It represents a cow herder sitting near her cows, certainly in the Aix countryside because we can see the Sainte Victoire mountain in the background. The work is signed and dated lower right. A pretty painting testifying to a bygone era.

English artist living in Provence, friend of Monticelli, he exhibited at the Royal Academy and at Suffolk Street from 1883 to 1886
