"Fireplace Empire II Ca.1845-1850 Patricia Green Marble"
This excellent Empire II fireplace from the mid-nineteenth century is an example of a fireplace-surround, that brings a great sense of history ànd design into your house. It has detached, full round, tapered columns, rare because of the technical skills required of the craftsman. The rare, green marble Patricia Vert, is beauiful enhanced by the fine Ormolu mounts and bronze foyer. It's adding a classy distinction and raffinée. Ormolu is a gilding technique to an object of bronze. The Ormolu technique dates back for centuries, but was extensively used during the French Empire, reaching his peak during this period: 1804-1815. Craftsman principally used Ormolu for bright, non-oxidizing mountings on furniture, clocks, porcelain and marble objects, like fireplaces. Creating an elegant piece of work.
