"Bacchante - Maenad, Bronze, France, 19th Century."
Patinated bronze sculpture representing a Bacchante (or Menadee in Greek mythology), that is to say a companion of Bacchus. The girl is depicted in a dynamic pose, holding an instrument, a cup and, of course, her most characteristic attribute - the grape. At his feet is an overturned amphora, perhaps a symbol of a feast that has already passed. The sculpture was created with great attention to detail.
Patinated bronze.
France, 19th century.
Height 33.5 cm.
Very good state of conservation, small scratches and rubbing of the patina.
