Dating from the early 20th century, this elegant Italian hand-carved marble figure is a replica of the famous marble sculpture of Venus de Milo (Greek Aphorides of Milos), the goddess of love and beauty. The original statue is one of the most famous pieces in the Louvre Museum in Paris. It was discovered on April 8, 1820 in the ruins of the ancient city of Milos on the island of Milos in Greece. The statue is believed to have been made between 130 BC. and 100 BC. by Alexander of Antioch, artist of the Hellenistic period.
