PRINCESS OLGA NICOLAEVNA TROUBETSKAYA : “THE BEAUTIFUL RUSSIAN”, oil on canvas 92 X 73 cm, mounted in a simple frame 106 X 87 cm. When I bought this painting, which had been in a garage for a long time, it was dirty and had been bought (backing slip) many years earlier at an anonymous auction. A "je ne sais quoi" in my eyes, this Paul Poiret smock dress, made me buy it despite everything and I took it to the restaurant for a little cleaning, we stripped it of its frame to put it on the table and there, under the spot, some flies' legs appeared, but almost unreadable. After several hours of research on different photos, the evidence was revealed: it was the signature of Princess Olga Nicolaevna Troubetskaya or Trubetskaya born May 8, 1867 in Arhktyrka in Ukraine and died on January 12, 1947 in Clamart in the Hauts-de- Seine, of which very few works are known. An annotation on the frame, difficult to read, probably gives us the identity of the model and its address. Now cleansed, our Beautiful Lady, probably Russian like the Artist, gives herself up to you with the sharpness of her gaze and her Venetian blond hair. Indoor photos are closer to the color reality.
