Raymond Dierickx : "don Quixote At The Procession"
RaymondDierickx (1904–1978) “Don Quixote at the Procession,” mixed media, 54 × 71cm (view size on paper), 55 × 73 cm, mounted with a pH-neutral mat, 60 × 80cm.
Standing proudly atop Rocinante, Don Quixote gazes at the procession stretchingfrom the church to the foreground.
This talented Belgian artist was a true discovery for us!Even when found as loose, dusty sheets, these drawings, once prepared andframed, reveal the full extent of Dierickx’s talent, reminiscent of artists such as Nicolas Eeckmann, Fritz Van den Berghe, Constant Permeke, and othersuch as Anto Carte, depicting festivals, processions, and fairs in the great tradition of Flemish painters dating back to the 17th century with the Brueghels, yet rendered with great modernity.
Otherfacets of his work showcase his fresco projects and large-scaledecorative works, often with exotic themes, while his early watercolorsreveal a symbolist vein with an elongated style.
We dedicated an exhibition to him (PDF catalog available by email)featuring the first works we discovered, but we have acquired many more since then!
In partnership with Galerie Lafouresse, we specialize in paintings of the Basque Country, the Landes, and the Arcachon Basin.
Please feel free to ask us for photos or additional information via email or phone.
More photos and many other items are available at our store in Pau and on our Proantic website.
