French School Circa 1930/40 : Mural Project "the Cinema"
French School, circa 1930/40: Fresco Project I "The Cinema," charcoal on paper, 163 x 96 cm, gridded and color tests. On several sheets joined together, with discoloration due to glue at the joints, numerous peripheral tears, slightly faded.
An ambitious project for an allegory blending cinema (with cameraman and Donald Duck), theater (with antique masks), and sport (with boxer, horse race, and racing car), the lower section echoing the upper section of the following project on music.
One of the three projects is noted "Malric being mayor," suggesting these could be fresco designs for the Town Hall or a community center in Rabastens, Tarn, where Ernest Malric was mayor at the time.
