Old Kurdish Carpet, Multicolored, Circa 1880
A decoration characteristic of this ethnic group highlights a rich geometric composition with a diagonal trend that gives the sense of infinity. The rhomboid shapes with serrated edges with small signs surrounding them are reminiscent of stars.
The quantity of colours, all of natural origin, is an excellent indication of a good period, only the two heads had been dyed with a synthetic color which has now faded. There are the original selvedges and the two ends that close with a plain weave band.
Size : 290x137 cm
Condition : wear but remains in good condition for its age.
A small restoration on the fringes of the lower headboard visible in the photos.
