Oasis in North Africa by René Gouast (1897-1980). Brother of Jean Lasne (1911-1940), hope of French painting between the two wars, he gave up his name to him to sign with the name of their mother, Gouast. This watercolor was made during the artist's 10-year stay in Africa. It is signed lower left, René Lasne and dated 1929. The watercolor is framed in an oak stick and measures unframed 30x45 cm.
