Oil painting on panel depicting the Virgin Mary seated on a rock, holding the sleeping infant Jesus in her arms, with Joseph standing behind her. The painter, active in the late 16th or early 17th century, was probably from Emilia. The panel is framed in an old, molded, and blackened wooden frame. Without the frame, the panel measures 40.3 x 31.1 cm. The panel is slightly warped, and some wear to the paint layer, visible in the photographs, should be noted.
