"Elegant Correspondence Writing Desk, Rosewood & Fruit Woods, Early 19thc Period, Circa 1830 "
Here is a beautiful correspondence writing desk, in rosewood and nets of fruit trees in marquetry, with two flaps. Opening the large one allows you to open the small one in the upper part, thus revealing a period inkwell in enamelled copper, a talcum tank with an openwork pewter lid and tassels, as well as a blackened wooden pen holder, forming a lid. a receptacle for ink, pens, or perhaps a few secrets... The large flap, sheathed in the center in black tinted leather, embossed in gold with friezes and geometric shapes, reveals a paper compartment. The interior is lined with green velvet, probably brought in later. Back of the flap and bottom of the writing desk in cardboard.Good general condition. The interior in green velvet probably brought back, slits on the boxes, small side holes suggesting a carrying handle, absent, just like the key.
European working, probably French, dating from the first part of the 19th century, Circa 1830.
