Lovely and extremely rare Louis XV period holy water font in sterling silver. It bears the date letter 57 for 1757, the hallmark of the city of Mechelen , former capital of the southern Netherlands in the Duchy of Brabant, and the hallmark of a master goldsmith marking with a poppy capsule. It is entirely covered with period elegant Regency style engraving. It is in perfect condition and still has its detachable interior. It weighs 160 grams.z
