A very elegant solid silver tea and coffee service of the highest standard (925%) with the City of London hallmarks for 1948. Each piece is engraved with the monogram of King George VI of England surmounted by the royal crown and surrounded by the Order of the Garter with the motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). The maker's mark is that of the legendary firm William Comyns and Sons. The tray shown in some photos is not included in this set but is offered for sale separately. The complete set of four pieces weighs 1400 grams.
