"Paris 1847-1883, Six Brandy Goblets, Solid Silver, Berthier, Trompe-l'oeil Barrels"
Very pretty set of six cute goblets or cups for brandy or liqueur in solid silver of the first alloy(950%). They bear the master silversmith's mark of Philippe Berthier, active in Paris between 1845 and 1883 (from 1847 with this master silversmith's mark depicting a woodcock). They are gilded inside and this vermeil is still in very good condition. Their entire exterior surface is engraved to give them the appearance of wine barrels. Each barrel has a cartouche in the form of a panel screwed with four screws, in which a first name or a surname could be engraved. Their handles are decorated with vine leaves and bunches of grapes. The set weighs 180 grams
