Beautiful pair of silver-plated chased bronze torches. Model with round base molded with laurel leaves, the umbilicals engraved with the coat of arms, fesscié d'or et d'azur de six pièces, Marquis Louis de Montolieu, chef d'escadre des galères, maréchal de camp under Louis XIV. The shafts have two rings and a laurel-leaf frieze, and the binnacles have a gadrooned swell. Marked with a crowned C (1745-1749) on each spigot. These candlesticks were stamped with the crowned C when they were inherited or traded.

Condition, good, traces of use and wear, they were formerly re-silvered. Rare.
