Imposing slit drum called "garamut" collected in the village of Maramba in Papua New Guinea. The slit drum is mainly used as a means of communication, but can also be used to rhythm traditional ceremonies or "singsing". Exceptional large piece entirely sculpted with tribal designs evoking ancestors, totemic plants and animals. Very hard wood with traces of use and age. Excellent sounds. Sold with a drum stick. Single piece.
