Very beautiful patina of use for this canoe prow in the shape of a crocodile head collected on the banks of the Sepik River in Papua New Guinea. The canoe remains today the most used means of transport in the Sepik River Valley. Most of these canoes used in the lower and middle Sepik regions have a sculpted bow representing a crocodile head, a feared and venerated animal. Leather-look wood with traces of use.
