Polychrome Folk Art Cabinet 19th
Courtesy box on the model of a small cabinet, rare example of popular art, southern Alsace or Switzerland, remember that our city of Mulhouse was an independent republic under Swiss protectorate until the end of the 18th century and that the style of furniture produced in our region is close to the Swiss decorative arts. This charming piece of furniture has adopted the principles of the cabinets diffused in the Rhine regions since the 16th century: a lifting top which blocks the opening of the two doors, these reveal a layout of small drawers, a small theater whose bottom is retractable and reveals two other small drawers. Polychrome floral decoration, on which it is necessary to note some wear.
