Mask - Baoulé / Ivory Coast
This elegant mask with fine and finely sculpted features perfectly symbolizes the productions, indeed, this finesse of execution in the making of their masks as well as their statuary. The fine sculpted lips forming this mouth are also characteristic of Baoulé productions; we will also highlight the formation of the eyebrow arches, found in the center of the forehead, in order to form the nose. The excellence of the work of the craftsman is reflected perfectly through the carved horns as well as the various engraved lines running through them. A deep mastery is apparent from this object, in particular by the serrated edge traversing the contours of this mask testifies as well as the small beard at the end of the chin.
