Chinese Porcelain Dish For Japan
Artist: Jingdezhen
Porcelain dish decorated with underglaze cobalt blue flowers. The designs are of fine quality, more superior to those usually look on Chinese export porcelain from this period. The firing is perfect, the blue is uniformly bright and deep. The type of geometric decoration of the marli requires precision, rigor and skill and was not executed by just any painter. The presence of 2 stylized flowers on the marli leads us to think that they are Mon. Their presence would indicate a Japanese order. Probably for a wedding. Good condition. Diameter: 285mm.
