"Oak Wall Pipe Rack - 1910/1920"
Crafted Oak panel forming a large Wall Pipe Holder. Its edges are carved with Acanthus leaves and windings, Decorations all the more important at the top and on the base of this Display. In the center, the letters 'EP' are marked in wood and surrounded by a frieze. Probably a century ago, the first owner of this property wanted to see his initials engraved on it. It is under this stamp that we have chosen to position a row with six notches allowing as many Pipes to be hung there. Three pairs of relief motifs, arranged in symmetry, also adorn this curious object. One of them certainly represents nuts, which turn out to be hollow. This generously turbulent and richly sculpted Pipe Holder is an astonishing element of decoration. We may even be able to find a new role for it, such as that of Dart Holder next to a target, for example. Unless a Smoker or a collector restores it to its original function... who knows! ******** Period: 1910 / 1920 Perfect condition after restoration in our workshop.
