“le Cavalier” Bronze Set, China – Early 20th Century
Bronze set with brown patina in two elements. This work depicts a middle-aged man with a long beard, dressed in a kimono under a long cape and wearing a straw hat, in the saddle on his horse. This rider holds a piece of parchment in his hands while his mount advances at a walk preparing to graze the grass that presents itself in front of it. Our two protagonists seem to walk their path with calm and serenity. Strikingly realistic, this bronze pays a beautiful tribute to Asian culture.
