Very rare saddle carbine by Remington, 15,000 were manufactured between 1864 and 1866, of which only the first 1,000 were delivered in 1865. This example bears the serial number 979. It predates the Remington Rolling Block. After the Civil War in 1866, these weapons were sold to the French for the Franco-Prussian War in 1870. Works perfectly, very nice copy to seize.
