Very Beautiful Flintlock Pistol From Twigg, London, Circa 1770

VERY FINE FLINTLOCK MUFF PISTOL BY TWIGG, LONDON, CIRCA 1770
Of small delicate proportions, with 3cm turn-off barrel & unscrewing lug, border-engraved box-lock action signed in script by the maker ‘Twigg, London’ and encompassed in a stand or arms on both sides.
Drop down concealed trigger, sliding thumb-piece safety catch and flat-sided walnut grip. Overall length just over 11cm.
In good working order and condition. The sort of tiny pistol that would have been carried during the late 18th century as a personal protection weapon, hence the term ‘muff’ (hand-warmer) pistol.
