Brass instrument, on a square base 14.3 cm square. Central circle: 11.5cm diameter.Elegant wind rose, 16 directions, decorated with a fleur-de-lis in the north direction, with engraved indication of the intermediate directions, on each of the branches of the rose. Large signature at the base of the square support. Magnetic needle having suffered a little, engraved circle of degrees, needle stop by lateral cursor, (inoperative, because the glass is missing).
Condition of discovery, small wear and imperfections, stains, circular glass is missing.
Nicolas Bion (1652-1733) was the Louis XIV King's engineer for mathematical instruments.
