"Carpet Of Turkmemes Yomoud, 162 Cm X 213 Cm, Laine Sur Laine, Second Part Of The XIXth Century"
Wool carpet on wool of the nomadic and semi-nomadic tribe of the Turkmen Yomoud from Turkmenistan or Uzbekistan, regions occupied by these populations.This carpet from the second part of the 19th century is in good condition with some wear due to its age.
The colors, of natural origin are typical of the Yomouds, orange, black, white, purple and raspberry.
We find on our model the characteristic of these old carpets, the band of kilim folded inside and called "alam" which served to protect the beginning of the carpet, the other side ending in fringes.
The geometric decoration is composed of a semi of diamonds covered with many stylized flowers and two large planks sown regularly with triangles and geometric tribal forms. The border consists of a design of ram's horns.
