The axis deer or Chital is a deer naturally occurring in the wooded regions of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.
It is found in all the reserves of India and has been introduced in Central Europe, Former Yugoslavia, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Texas and Hawaii.
Other very fine chitals are chiseled in bands as well as trellis friezes.
The whole is in very good condition Provenance: North India.
Dimensions: Diameter: 29 cm, Diameter at the neck: 22 cm, Height: 18 cm, weight: 1284 grams.
