Magnificent bezel in vermeil solid silver and cut crystal. The diamond-shaped crystal is mounted on a circular pedestal, scalloped with a frieze of water leaves underlined with fillet mouldings. Flanked by two winged caryatids, rounded torsos, presented bare-breasted, the drapery forming the handle, is flanked by the mount decorated as a reminder, in the model of the foot. The lid hosts a pine cone, scales closed, on its terrace of foliage isolated in medallions. Of good capacity, this bezel is a delight of finesse and refinement, the perfect carving, the absolutely sumptuous elegant handles. The high quality vermeil is very covering. No dent or chipping on this stunning crystal goblet. Micro-scratches from normal use. Width from one handle to the other - Width from the handle to the other: 22.5 cm. / 8. 86 in. Height, at the fretel / Total height: 17.3 cm. / 6.81 in. Pedestal – Base: 10.6 cm. / 4. 17 in. Total weight - Total weight: 1335 g. Hallmark of the master goldsmith (4), hallmark of French guarantee, head of Minerva 1st title (950/1000), on foot, handles, frame and lid (5). (Perhaps the work of Martial Fray on a punch, although stamped on the handles, the pedestal as well as on the frame, badly and very partially inculcated. We guess for symbol a hammer with two planes, and ends of letters. The density, the very high quality of execution as well as the chasing can make one think of it. He held at least two different punches including M.FRAY, a hammer with two planes - without prejudice). Beautiful bright and generous piece, rare in this very good state of preservation. For elegant dessert tables, sugar, jam, sugared almonds and dried fruit, or simply for display.
