Painter of still lifes and landscapes, born in Bains-les-Bains around 1865, Léon Marie Benoit was a pupil of Rémillieux. He exhibited landscapes in Lyon in 1891. In 1907 he obtained a second Medal at the Salon of this city with Saint Sorbin en Bugey and La mare. He died in 1917
