Oil sketch over pen and ink on thick cardboard, signed “C. Lorrain” and monogrammed “lP” (?).

The drawing is in the condition in which it was discovered, with some signs of wear (see photos).

It is based on a landscape composed by the French artist in Rome: Claude Gellée, known as “Le Lorain” (1600–1682). A painter, draftsman, and engraver from Lorraine, he glorified nature in his paintings created in the suburbs of Rome.
