Paul Eschbach was a student of Jean Paul Laurens and Pharaon de Winter. Initially a portraitist and an excellent colorist, he began by painting portraits and then, from 1920 onwards, primarily landscapes. His favorite subjects were seascapes, sailors, boats, and snowy landscapes.
