Monstrance, 16th century
This reliquary is made of a copper base, that was originally gilded (there is tiny remains of gilding), and a silver or silver-plated metal monstrance, maybe the indication of a reassembly of two parts from different origins.
The lower part shows a slightly convex hexagonal base and a leg ornamented with a stepped knot. The round monstrance opens in two parts articulated by a hinge. The outer side is adorned by a cord-shaped relief, and the inner side is cut as a foliate pattern frieze. The whole thing is topped by a radiating cross sat on an orb.
Very good condition, the upper part slightly leans toward the back (see pictures).
Height : 19,6 cm
Base diameter : 10,4 cm
Monstrance diameter : 7,2 cm
