Very Important XIXth Table Center
Description:
Chiseled gilt bronze, porcelain.
This large centerpiece is representative of the beautiful creations of the mid-19th century. It consists of a smooth base at 6 feet. The bowl is made of porcelain in a beautiful deep oven blue which could come from Sèvres (not having had to dismantle it, I could not verify).
A wide fluted pedestal surrounded by friezes is the central column, two kinds of trapezophorums in the busts of women carry the sides while serving as holds. The porcelain is surrounded by two bronze crowns and large garlands of hanging flowers.
Four medallions are centered on the sides and an ornamented rosette is at the bottom of the basin. Despite its large size, this important ornamental object has a design without heaviness.
