"Secretary In Blackened Wood, Napoleon III Period - Nineteenth"
Napoleon III secretaire in blackened wood surmounted by white Carrara marble slightly veined with gray and surrounded by a chiselled bronze molding. This unique piece of furniture opens with a drawer in the upper part, a flap and four drawers in the lower part. Each of the facades has a bronze rod applied around its perimeter highlighting brass inlays. These consist of refined floral nets and arabesques also present on the seat with a large central decoration with motifs of bouquets, flowers and foliage. At the corners of this flap, four bronze sculptures depicting stylized shells adorn the whole. The opening reveals a tabernacle composed of a speckled Maple in light wood framed in Rosewood, as well as a drawer, simulating two, with a frontage in Thuja burl. On the perfectly balanced seat, a light fawn-coloured leather with golden vignette is enriched with a harmonious central ornament. This secretary benefits from many Bronze fittings: finely carved high and low falls, original locks accompanied by their added keys and chiseled moldings. It rests on four "spinning top" legs fitted with their brass flanges. Graceful and elegant, this 19th century secretaire will delight you with the finesse of its ornamentation.
