A lively street scene in front of a mosque in Istanbul was executed around the 1920s by Franco-Polish orientalist painter Jozef Pawlikiewicz, who traveled to Turkey, where he created many views of Istanbul at the turn of the 20th century . His Istanbul watercolors are regularly sold in Polish and French auctions.
Inscription: titled and and signed "Stambul. J. Pawlikiewicz" lower left and titled with the name of the street in French: "Rue d ..Ey..li", lower right, on the reverse of the watercolor - old memory inscription in German: "Gruss aus Konstantinopel (English: greeting from Contantinoples of your Pohly Angelides).
Inscription: signed lower left.
